Depth Beyond One´s - Soledad In The Gale (Promo)
Could be so, that UltraMayhem Org. and Farmakon are finally
getting a worthy competitor on the zone of finnish strange
metal. I'm saying that this, quite fresh band's mature debut
at cost price produced album is so delicious that I'm almost
choking on my coffee and bread here and feeling a stratospheric
layer entering this world from another dimension.
On this five song demo there is a tight progressive touch on
metal plus the composing must have included listening of bands
like Mr Bungle and the progressive metal giant Opeth. On the
other hand, there is also room for more difficult and tricky
musical parts, meanwhile main metal-genre staying far on the
back. For example, the beautiful and calm Stowaway sounds like
an acoustic OC-soundtrack, but still makes its difference by
kicking every companion down to the floor to listen what it has
to say.
One other thing makes this band point out from the masses too,
for the headman on the composing is the bass player of the band.
Jari-Pekka Kanniainen. J-P has created, besides odd-times, some
excellent drive on the pieces eventhough they are running
mainly over six minutes long. This makes the songs need
something extra or it starts to bore you down. Top of the cake,
the sounds and the playing are excellent too. Maybe the vocals
would need some training, but only in the case of forcing me
to say something that needs improving, for I really didn't
manage to find anything else.
Creativity is very much of a virtue here in Finland, for
everyone has heard the mascaracores and sifongrocks, but this
band has to offer so refreshing frequency of music that I can
not do more than to recommend to enter its depths. The trip
will certainly reward its listener as much it will reward the
musicians themselves.
